What information do I need to apply for an IRA?

Opening a precious metals IRA is straightforward. Here's what you'll typically need to have ready:

Personal Identification

  • Government-issued photo ID — driver's license or passport
  • Social Security Number (SSN)
  • Date of birth

Contact & Address Information

  • Current mailing address
  • Phone number
  • Email address

Beneficiary Information

You'll need to designate at least one beneficiary for your account, so have their name, date of birth, SSN, and relationship to you available.

Existing Retirement Account Details (for Rollovers)

If you are rolling over an existing 401(k), 403(b), TSP, or IRA, you'll need:

  • Your current account number
  • The name and contact information of your current plan administrator or custodian
  • Your approximate account balance

Employment Information

Depending on the custodian, you may be asked for basic employment details, particularly for certain account types like SEP or SIMPLE IRAs.

Banking Information

If funding your account via a new contribution rather than a rollover, you'll need your bank account and routing numbers to initiate the transfer.
