Can I sign up for the ambassador program if I don't have a Tax ID?

To comply with IRS reporting requirements, a valid Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) is required to participate in the Ambassador program and receive rewards.

  • For U.S. Residents: This is typically your Social Security Number (SSN) or an Employer Identification Number (EIN) if you are signing up as a business.
  • For Non-U.S. Residents: You will need to provide your local Foreign Tax ID and complete a W-8BEN form.

Because Ambassador rewards (the 1% metal and $100 gold upgrade) are considered taxable income once they reach a certain threshold, we are legally required to have this information on file before rewards can be issued to your vault. If you do not have a Tax ID, you can still use a standard SoundMoney account to buy and store metal, but you will not be eligible to earn referral rewards.
