# What happens to my metal if SoundMoney (the company) goes out of business?

Your metal is held in a legal 'bailment' at an independent third-party vault (**VaultMAX**). This means the metal belongs to you, not SoundMoney. It is an 'off-balance-sheet' asset, meaning it cannot be claimed by SoundMoney’s creditors. In the unlikely event the company ceases operations, your legal title to the physical metal remains, and you would be able to coordinate with the custodian to retrieve your property.
